Your guide to getting started

Here’s everything you need to transition your dog to maxbone, find the right serving size, and make every bowl a success.

Step 1

How to feed your dog maxbone

A new food can take a little getting used to. We recommend transitioning gradually over 7–10 days to help your dog's stomach adjust.

Tip
Every dog moves at their own pace. If your dog needs a little longer, stick with the current mix for a few extra days before adding more maxbone.
Is this normal?
New food, new poops. Softer or looser stools can happen during the transition. If they continue, stay at the current stage for a few extra days before moving forward.

Tips for a picky eater

  • Add warm water or dog-friendly bone broth
  • Serve with a topper you know they love
  • Mix it thoroughly with their current food
  • Serve after a walk or playtime when they’re hungry

Step 2

Feeding guidelines

Use this guide as a starting point, then adjust based on your dog's age, activity level, and metabolism.

Dog sizeWeightDaily serving
ToyUnder 10 lb½ – 1 cup
Small10 – 25 lb1 – 2¼ cups
Small–Medium25 – 35 lb2¼ – 2¾ cups
Medium35 – 50 lb2¾ – 3¾ cups
Large50 – 75 lb3¾ – 5 cups
Extra large75 – 100 lb5 – 6½ cups
GiantOver 100 lb6½+ cups

Daily servings shown are for use as a complete meal and can be split into two meals. When feeding as a topper or half-meal, scale the amount down accordingly. Puppies and pregnant or nursing dogs may need up to twice the recommended amount. Every dog is unique, so adjust based on age, breed, activity level, and metabolism. Always keep fresh water available.

Step 3

How to store

Store maxbone freeze-dried food in a cool, dark place. Reseal after each use and finish within 30 days of opening for optimal freshness and tail wags.

Keep it cool
Room temperature, out of direct sunlight.
Reseal tightly
Press air out and close the bag after every scoop.
Use within 30 days
Freeze-dried lasts, but freshness peaks in the first month.
